Food Drive And Kids’ Bike For The Bank Event
Participants in the Learning Zone, Bookworms Tot Education classes and members of the Tot Sports classes held at Veterans Memorial Leisure Service Center enjoyed the first ever “Bike for the Bank” event on Oct. 23 and 24 while gathering food for “Grandma’s Pantry.” The kids also celebrated Nevada’s birthday, signing a special birthday card. 

2013 Trunk Or Treat Fun
The Ward 2 car show and Halloween festival on Oct. 19 allowed princesses, ghouls, superheroes and characters of all sorts to collect treats and stroll among the cars.

Fire Safety Week Visit
In recognition of Fire Safety week,  the city’s fire department visited our tot education and sports classes on Oct. 7 and 8. Children learned about the job of a firefighter, were able to practice using the fire hose and saw the inside of the fire engine.

A Taste Of Shakespeare In Summerlin
Two actors performing “Romeo and Juliet,” one of eight snippets of Shakespeare performed at Hills Park on Oct. 5. This was in addition to stage sword training, crafts, face painting and balloon artists for the kids and a variety of food for purchase.

Flag Football Championships
Councilman Beers tosses the coin at the city’s recent flag football championship game at Veterans Memorial Leisure Services Center.
