Traffic Misdemeanor Citation

If you have received a citation for a traffic misdemeanor citation (examples include: speeding, improper lane change and other moving violations, etc.) follow these steps:

Step 1: Confirm that the citation is for Las Vegas Municipal Court (where to look)

If the citation is for Las Vegas Municipal Court, proceed to step 2

Otherwise, contact the appropriate court below:

Step 2: Contact Municipal Court

  • You and/or your attorney must call or appear at the court counter after 14 business days from the date the citation was issued and no later than the appearance date on the citation.
  • Court staff can give you general information about your case over the phone including payment options.
  • Court staff will advise you if your citation requires a mandatory court appearance.  If so, proceed to step 5.
  • Court staff cannot provide you with legal advice or attorney referrals.

Step 3: Decide how you will plea

A plea is required on or before the appearance date shown on your citation:

  • Plea Guilty or Nolo Contendere (No Contest)
    • Proceed to step 4
  • Plea Not Guilty
    • Proceed to step 5

Step 4: Pay by one of the following options

By phone with a credit card

  • If your case does not require a mandatory court appearance and you have not entered a plea of Guilty or Nolo Contendere (No Contest), you must first submit a Waiver of Rights Form  by fax to (702) 464-2538
  • Call (702) 38COURT or (800) 654-6856 if out of state, Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.
  • Have your ticket number, case number or history number and credit card ready
  • The Court accepts Visa and Mastercard credit or debit cards, Discover and Diner’s Club
  • Company or business credit cards are not accepted
  • The credit card holder must be the person calling or be on the phone with the defendant
  • Credit card payments are applied within 1-2 business days

By MoneyGram

  • If your case does not require a mandatory court appearance and you have not entered a plea of Guilty or Nolo Contendere (No Contest), you must first submit a Waiver of Rights Form  by fax to (702) 464-2538
  • Go to any MoneyGram location  or call 800-926-9400
  • Provide the agent with the Receive Code (3920)
  • Your account number is the ticket number, case number or history number

By Western Union Quick Collect

  • If your case does not require a mandatory court appearance and you have not entered a plea of Guilty or Nolo Contendere (No Contest), you must first submit a Waiver of Rights Form  by fax to (702) 464-2538
  • Go to any Western Union location  or call 800-325-6000
  • The Code City is: vegasmunicipalcourt
  • The Reference Number is the ticket number, case number or history number

By Mail

  • If your case does not require a mandatory court appearance and you have not entered a plea of Guilty or Nolo Contendere (No Contest), you must submit a Waiver of Rights Form  with your payment to:

Do not send cash in the mail.

  • Fines and fees are considered paid when received by the Court.  Late payments may result in a warrant being issued for your arrest, a possible Contempt of Court charge and additional fees.
  • Please mail your payment at least 7 days prior to the appearance date or due date. 
  • To receive a receipt, you must include a stamped, self-addressed envelope.

In Person

  • Payments can be made at the court counter.
  • Accepted forms of payment in person are:
    • cash
    • money order
    • cashier’s check
    • personal, attorney or business check
    • credit or debit card (Visa, Mastercard, Discover or Diner’s Club - company or business credit cards are not accepted)
    • travelers check
  • When appearing in person at the court counter you must show valid State or Government-issued picture identification:
    • State Driver’s License
    • State-issued Identification Card
    • Military Identification Card
    • Military Dependent Identification Card
    • Clark County-issued Work Card
    • United States or foreign passport

Step 5: Mandatory Court appearance or entering a Not Guilty plea

  • You and/or your attorney must appear at the court counter on or before your appearance date to file a motion or plead on your case.
  • When appearing in person you must show valid State or Government-issued picture identification:
    • State Driver’s License
    • State-issued Identification Card
    • Military Identification Card
    • Military Dependent Identification Card
    • Clark County-issued Work Card
    • United States or foreign passport
  • Court policies:
    • No weapons of any kind are allowed in Court (including but not limited to firearms, pocket knives, mace or pepper spray)
    • Wear appropriate attire (no shorts, tank tops, slippers, midriffs, etc.)
    • No children are allowed in Court without prior judicial consent
  • If you do not know if your charge requires a mandatory court appearance call (702) 38COURT (382-6878) or (800) 654-6856 if out of state, Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for assistance.
  • Juveniles appearing at the Court must have a parent or legal guardian present at time of plea.
