Traffic Lane Restrictions Will Soon Be In Effect At The Sahara Avenue And Fort Apache Road Intersection During The Overnight Hours
|
| |
|
Starting at approximately 9 p.m., Sunday, April 6, work on the Sahara Avenue and Fort Apache Road intersection improvement project is scheduled to resume. Traffic lane restrictions can be expected on Sahara from Hualapai Way through the Fort Apache intersection. The lane restrictions will be in effect during the approximate overnight hours of 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. for this project by the city of Las Vegas Department of Public Works. Some daytime traffic lane restrictions may be necessary as work progresses.
To better accommodate the high volumes of traffic through this area, the median islands will be removed and reconstructed. Sidewalks, curbs, gutters, landscaping, irrigation systems and streetlight poles will be relocated and modifications will be made to some traffic signals. As traffic delays can be expected while work is underway, Charleston Boulevard and Desert Inn Road are suggested as alternate routes for east-west travel. Durango Drive and Hualapai are suggested for north-south travel.
Sahara and Fort Apache should reopen to full around-the-clock access when the project is completed in mid-May. The contractor is Southern Nevada Paving. Funding for this $1.76 million improvement project is provided by the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada.
