May is National Historic Preservation Month and the city of Las Vegas is celebrating with several exhibits and events including the annual Helldorado parade. The theme of this year’s celebration is “This Place Matters.”
The Las Vegas City Council and the city’s Historic Preservation Commission recognized key community organizations and individual for their contributions to preserving our history at the May 7 council meeting.
This year’s events take place beginning Friday, May 16, and run through Sunday, May 18.
Friday, May 16 “Re-Invention” Photo Exhibition Opening Reception Bridge Gallery, City Hall, 2nd Floor 3 – 6 p.m.
Saturday, May 17 “Celebrating Helldorado” Exhibition Las Vegas Natural History Museum 900 Las Vegas Blvd. North 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Neon Boneyard Tours Neon Museum 770 Las Vegas Blvd. North 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
“Hands on History” Program The Old Vegas Mormon Fort State Park 500 E. Washington Ave. 10 a.m. – Noon
Huntridge Theatre Open House & Tours 1208 E. Charleston Blvd. 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Southern Nevada Cultural History Fair Las Vegas Springs Preserve 333 S. Valley View Blvd. 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Morelli House Tours 861 Bridger Ave. 1 – 4 p.m.
Helldorado Parade Along Fourth Street., downtown Las Vegas 7 p.m.
