General information about the incident: No one at home at time of fire. Sixteen-year-old son was walking home from school and noticed liquid, which was on fire, dripping underneath the Ford SUV parked in the driveway under an attached carport. He used a garden hose to knock down fire, but it grew larger. At this time several neighbors noticed and told him to leave, car engine area went fully involved. Heavy Rescue 44 was first on scene with heavy fire in the vehicle extending to the house and into the eaves. Crew pulled fire hose used for swift water rescues and attached it to a fire hydrant on the street and used it to knock down bulk of fire. They then used their hi-rise pac to get another handline into operation to do additional fire control as other units arrived on scene. No injuries, cause of fire under investigation.
