The American Society for Public Administration has honored city of Las Vegas Fire Chief Greg Gammon with its Lifetime Achievement Award, and named the city’s Enterprise Project Manager Pat Dues its Emerging Public Administrator of the Year.
The American Society for Public Administration (ASPA) advocates for greater effectiveness in government by embracing new ideas and addressing public service issues.
Chief Gammon is the ninth fire chief of the Las Vegas Fire & Rescue Department. A 24-year veteran of the department, Gammon has worked as a firefighter, paramedic, captain, battalion chief, fire marshal, deputy chief and senior deputy chief. He has been appointed by the governor to serve as the city of Las Vegas representative on the State Homeland Security Commission.
According to the ASPA Gammon has, “proven his ability to work effectively with staff, city management, elected officials and the community. As the new fire chief, he is confident of his abilities to lead the outstanding fire department to a new level of excellence.
As enterprise program manager at the city of Las Vegas, Pat Dues successfully manages the implementation and ongoing support of the enterprise suite of Oracle Financials and Human Resources/Payroll applications. Dues has helped to streamline city functions by bringing divisions together that were previously isolated due to incompatible technologies.
Dues recently earned her Project Management Professional certification, and has served the citizens of Las Vegas for more than 20 years. According to the ASPA, “she has helped the city become highly efficient and a 21st century governance community.”
