A day of fun aimed at raising awareness about available services for the disabled will offer vital information, entertainment, games and more at Disabilities Awareness Day on Saturday, Oct. 10, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lorenzi Park Sammy Davis Jr. Festival Plaza located at 720 Twin Lakes Dr. off Washington Avenue.
The free event will include more than 60 organizations that will highlight information and services on the Americans with Disabilities Act, independent living, recreation, employment, housing, legal service transportation and other services that enhance and promote the equality, self-determination, independence, productivity, integration and inclusion of people with disabilities. Participants can enjoy free entertainment and refreshments (while supplies last).
A free employment seminar will be available for Social Security beneficiaries ages 14 to 64 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Call 889-4216 to attend.
The event is sponsored by the Southern Nevada Center for Independent Living, the city of Las Vegas, the Nevada Department of Employment Training and Rehabilitation, the Social Security Administration and Well Care Pharmacy, LLC.
