Oakey Boulevard And Rancho Drive Intersection Weekend Closure Planned
Flood Control Box-A-Thon Starts Friday, Oct. 16
|
| |
|
The Oakey Boulevard and Rancho Drive intersection will be completely closed to traffic starting at approximately 8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 16, and continuing through 6 a.m., Monday, Oct. 19.
Traffic on Oakey will be detoured at Western Avenue and at Valley View Boulevard. Rancho traffic will be detoured at Sahara Avenue and at Charleston Boulevard. Access will be maintained for area residents.
The temporary closure is necessary for crews to install 8-foot by 8-foot reinforced concrete flood control boxes in the intersection. Crews plan to work around-the-clock through the weekend, to complete work in the intersection, as part of the $6.2 million flood control improvement project that is underway on Oakey, between Birch Street and Cahlan Drive.
Work started in February and the entire project will take approximately 10 months to complete. The massive flood control system being installed in Oakey will help alleviate flooding in the area, when completed. The Oakey and Rancho intersection should reopen to access by 6 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 19.
