Kitchen Fire Sends Four People To Hospital

Cause of incident:  Started on stove. Occupant told investigators he was having trouble with electric stove.

General information about the incident: Fire started in the kitchen and was reported as a stove fire. Fire appears to have started in the oven and spread to rest of the kitchen. Occupant told fire investigators that he had been having maintenance troubles with the stove, and that a light sometimes stayed on indicating that the stove was on after he shut it off. All occupants had to pass through the kitchen while on fire to escape through the front door. Four people were taken to UMC for smoke inhalation. Kitchen fires are the leading cause of fires and fire-related injuries in the United States and Las Vegas.
