City Of Las Vegas Cultural Arts & Community Events March 8-14
Nevada Dance Project ‘Inside Out’ At Reed Whipple Cultural Center March 13

 

Everyone is invited to the Nevada Dance Project “Inside Out” performance on Saturday, March 13, at 2 p.m. at the Reed Whipple Cultural Center, 821 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Enjoy a showcase concert of contemporary dances by local professional dancers who perform in shows on The Strip. Experience the exciting visions of dance by choreographers Richard Havey, Teresa Martinez, Don Bellamy, Robert Contreras, Marko Westwood, Mindy Krasner, Quinn Callahan, Allan McCormick and Miguel Perez. Tickets are priced at $10 for all seats. For tickets and information, call 229-6211.

“Journeying Back to Our Roots” Women’s Month Celebration

"Journeying Back to Our Roots and Heal Thyself for Health & Longevity" is this year’s theme for culturally enriching experiences through wellness and interactive workshops and presentations. Colette IyaLe Lundy, Titilayo Akinlana and Anika Johnson will facilitate discussions on the importance of marriage and the family from the African perspective, spirituality, breathing, mediation, sisterhood, heritage, relationships, ritual and ceremony. The focus will be on mentoring young girls and creating dialogues in culture and education. Alice Key, 99, will be honored during the event. Key danced at the Cotton Club in New York City, came to Las Vegas in 1955, worked as a journalist for the Las Vegas Sentinel Voice, as a talk show host for “The Bob Bailey Show” in the ‘50s, and was the original president of the Las Vegas Black Historical Society, Inc. The program is presented with support from the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District and the West Las Vegas Library. 

NFL Youth Flag Football League (ages 6-14)
Saturdays, beginning March 13. Advance registration required. Registration open until full.
Fee: $65, includes jersey and award, weekly practice and weekly game.
Boys and girls play in their own age groups, 6-8, 9-11, and 12-14. Volunteer coaches are needed. Birth certificate required for proof of age.
