Construction Of Pedestrian Bridge To Begin Across Las Vegas Wash
Portion Of The Las Vegas Wash Trail To Close Temporarily During Construction

As part of the Sandhill Owens Park and Trailhead Project, also known as the Doug Selby Park and Trailhead, a portion of the Las Vegas Wash Trail will close Dec. 6 through March 2011 in order to begin installation of a pedestrian bridge across the wash, realignment of the trail, and related landscaping improvements. The trail will be closed between Owens Avenue and Lamb Boulevard. (See map.)Remaining sections of the trail, from Lamb to Stewart Avenue, will stay open for use. The bridge contractor will install signs at Owens and Lamb noting the trail closure as well as fencing at the project site that will not allow trail users to continue through the construction area. Completion of the park and trailhead is scheduled for June 2011.

The city of Las Vegas Public Works Department is managing the project. PEEK Construction is the contractor. Funding is provided by the Bureau of Land Management through the sale of public lands as authorized by the Southern Nevada Public Land Management Act.
