Fire Damages Downtown Apartment
|

|
Las Vegas and Clark County firefighters responded to a mattress fire in an apartment at 201 W. St. Louis Ave. at 6:55 p.m. Friday. On arrival, smoke and flames were showing from a downstairs apartment. Firefighters entered the apartment and had the fire out in less than five minutes. Damage was confined to the bedroom of the small apartment. Damage was estimated at $15,000.
The cause of the fire is undetermined. Fire investigators determined that the fire started on the mattress. Bystanders told firefighters that the occupant left the scene prior to the arrival of firefighters. A person was also reported to have smoke inhalation, but did not seek treatment.
The incident remains under investigation.
