Three adults are displaced after their apartment was damaged by a fire in an apartment complex laundry room. The fire has been ruled accidental. There were no reported injuries.
Las Vegas and Clark County firefighters responded to the Charleston Pines Apartments, 4820 East Charleston Blvd., at 8:02 a.m. for a reported fire in a laundry room. On arrival, firefighters found smoke coming from a ground floor laundry room that was attached to a two story wood frame 16-unit apartment building.
Firefighters’ main concern was to prevent the fire from extending into the attic, which would have affected all the other apartments in the building. Firefighters had the fire under control in less than 10 minutes and confined the fire to a wall separating the laundry room and one of the apartments.
Fire investigators determined that the fire started in the wall between the laundry room and one apartment. The fire was electrical in origin and ruled accidental.
There was fire and heat damage in the laundry room and the apartment next to the laundry room was damaged because of the common wall, although there was no damage to contents. Damage was estimated at $50,000.
Three adults that live in the apartment next to the laundry room are displaced. The American Red Cross is assisting.
There were no reported injuries.
