City Of Las Vegas YNAPP Program Offers Matching Grants To Youth
Applicants Encouraged To Attend One Of Two Grant Workshops Scheduled In September

The city of Las Vegas’ annual Youth Neighborhood Association Partnership Program (YNAPP) application process has begun. YNAPP offers grants for up to $1,000 for youth to create and implement neighborhood-based service learning projects of their own design. Youth are the project leaders and work toward ways to make changes in their neighborhoods and throughout the community, based on their ideas and their vision for their neighborhood. Projects may include developing care packages, youth art/mural projects, youth mentoring youth, community gardens and services for the homeless. The application deadline is Nov. 15.

The program requires youth to match the city's grant with cash, volunteer time, or in-kind services and goods donated to the project. Projects are required to take place within city limits.

Applicants are encouraged to register and attend one of two workshops scheduled in September to learn about the program and the automated method of applying for the grant. Workshops are scheduled Thursday, Sept. 13, and Tuesday, Sept. 18, at Las Vegas City Hall, 495 S. Main St. from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. A detailed workshop flier is available on the city website. To register for a workshop, call (702) 229-5406 or email to lcampbell@lasvegasnevada.gov.

Applicants will use ZoomGrants to submit their grant applications. No paper applications will be accepted. Additional information about YNAPP and a link to the application is available on the city of Las Vegas website.

After the submission deadline, applications will be reviewed for basic requirements and eligibility. The applications will be further evaluated by the YNAPP Board, whose members are appointed by the mayor and City Council. All applicants will be required to make a 10-minute presentation of their projects to the YNAPP Board. Funding recommendations from the YNAPP board on these projects will be presented to the mayor and City Council for final approval in February 2013. Residents looking for more information can contact Lisa Campbell at (702) 229-5406.
