Fire Damages Northwest Carl’s Jr. Restaurant
No Customers Were In The Restaurant During The Fire
|
| |
|
A Carl’s Jr. restaurant was damaged by fire early this morning. Although the restaurant was open for business, there were no customers inside when the fire broke out. The two employees on duty were able to escape without injury. Fire investigators believe the fire was accidental in nature.
Two employees on duty at the restaurant located at 3189 N. Rainbow Blvd. (at Cheyenne) in the Cheyenne Commons shopping center called 9-1-1 at 4:42 a.m. today to report smoke coming out the vents in the ceiling. They said they could not see any fire.
When firefighters arrived a few minutes later, flames could be seen on the roof around the air handler unit, which is the air conditioner/heating unit for the business. Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control in just a few minutes.
Damage was confined to the attic area and roof area around the air handler. The sales area of the restaurant was not damaged. Damage was estimated at $100,000.
The cause of the fire appears to be accidental, starting in the air handler unit. It is either electrical or mechanical in nature.
There were no reported injuries. The restaurant will be closed 3-6 months for repairs.
