Area Residents Invited To Women & Young Women’s Conference At West Las Vegas Arts Center March 23
Free Admission, But Advance Registration Is Required

 

Women age 14 and older are invited to participate in the 2013 Woman & Young Women’s Conference on Saturday, March 23, at the West Las Vegas Arts Center located at 947 W. Lake Mead Blvd.  Admission is free, but advance registration is required.

Themed “The Spirit of a Woman…Body & Soul,” the conference will promote personal empowerment and mentorship with a focus on sisterhood and strengthening communication and understanding between women and young women. Check-in begins at 8 a.m., followed by the Chat & Chew Mixer at 8:30 a.m. Participants are asked to wear comfortable active wear for the workshops. A series of workshops will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Workshop topics will include:

  • Value and Self-Esteem
  • Images in Media and Print
  • Human Trafficking.

Guest speakers and facilitators scheduled include:

  • Dr. Sabra R. Smith – Author, Speaker, Empowerment Coach & Business Strategist
  • Shannon Rae – Author, Speaker, and Practitioner
  • Dr. Linda E. Young – Clark County School Board Trustee
  • Judge Karen Bennett-Haron, Las Vegas Township Justice Court, Nevada
  • Sharie Harvin – Journalist, Channel 8 News
  • YNAPP Planning Committee – Nika Sewell, Aliyha Crawford, and Xiclali España.

Each adult participant is encouraged to bring a young lady or mentee of high school age, a friend, mom, sister, or aunt to the event. Call (702) 229-4800 for more information and registration.
