Residents Urged To Cast Their Votes In 2013 Primary Election
Tuesday, April 2, Is Primary Election Day In The City Of Las Vegas

Tuesday, April 2, is Primary Election Day in the city of Las Vegas. On Election Day, city residents living in Wards 2, 4 and 6 can vote for a City Council candidate who would represent their areas. Polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. Absentee ballots must be received by the City Clerk before 7 p.m. on Election Day in order to be counted.

Voters should check their sample ballots for their designated polling location or call the Las Vegas City Clerk at 229-6311 or the Clark County Registrar of Voters at 455-VOTE (8683).

Once polls close at 7 p.m., election results will be posted on the city’s website, www.lasvegasnevada.gov, and on the city’s government access television station, KCLV Cable Channel 2.

Your vote counts because some seats may be decided in the Primary Election. According to the Las Vegas City Charter, if one candidate receives more than 50 percent of the votes during the Primary Election, he or she must be declared elected. No General City Election would be held for that office.

However, if no candidate receives that majority in the Primary, the names of the two candidates receiving the highest number of votes are placed on the ballot for the General Election. The General Election is scheduled for June 4.

For more information visit www.lasvegasnevada.gov/election2013 or contact the Las Vegas City Clerk at 229-6311, TTY 386-9108.
