Save the date now for the Bluegrass Celebration Saturday, May 25, 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Charleston Heights Arts Center, located at 800 S. Brush St. Tickets for a concert by the Lonesome Otis band at 5 p.m. in the center’s Jeanne Roberts Theatre are priced at $10 and on sale now. A pre-show by Out of the Desert and post-show by Stuck in Reverse bands in the center’s ballroom, as well as information booths and the opportunity to bring your own instrument and join in the music making during “porch picking” are all free. A food-and-beverage vendor will be available on site. Out of the Desert will perform at 3:30 p.m. This band is comprised of award-winning instrumentalists who sing four-part vocals. Mark Sanders (banjo, vocals), Rick Seligman (fiddle), John Lundmark (guitar, vocals), Brian Burns (bass, vocals) and Jon Meek (dobro, fiddle, mandolin, vocals) perform with polish and energy. Based in Southern California, the Lonesome Otis band specializes in classic bluegrass, but also has an appreciation for slightly more contemporary songs. Stuck in Reverse will perform 6:30-7:30 p.m. The popular Las Vegas band's five members are Peggy Ruesch (guitar, vocals), Jan Ruesch (bass), Vera Vann-Wilson (banjo), Leon Evans (guitar) and Tom Flagg (mandolin).
