City Of Las Vegas Television Station Nominated For Regional Emmy
KCLV Channel 2 Recognized For Video Essay

A single camera video essay by KCLV Channel 2, which focused on CrossVegas, the biggest cyclocross race in America, was nominated for a Regional Emmy Award by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Pacific Southwest Chapter. The announcements were made last night.  The essay “CrossVegas,” which was shot and edited by city employee Eric Sorenson, aired on KCLV Channel 2 last year. For the essay, Sorenson covered the night-time race at the Desert Breeze Soccer Complex.

The special was nominated in the Video Essay (Single Camera Only) category. The nomination recognizes excellence by a single individual covering a single or multi-part news story or program. In this category, the video essay creator is also the photojournalist and editor, weaving together elements captured in the field to tell the story without a reporter or professional talent soundtrack. The Pacific Southwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences includes Las Vegas, San Diego, and other California cities including, Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Santa Maria, Bakersfield and Palm Springs. Awards will be presented at the 39th Annual Pacific Southwest Emmy Awards on Saturday, June 15th at the Red Rock Casino Resort & Spa in Las Vegas.

“This is the sixth Emmy nomination for Channel 2 in the last five years,” said Communications Director David Riggleman. “This tradition of setting a high standard of excellence speaks to the commitment of the entire KCLV team to offer quality programming for the community we serve.”
