DT|LV Dynamos: the Helpful Heroes Transforming Downtown

United Way of Southern Nevada and the City of Las Vegas are giving southern Nevada residents an opportunity to bring their passion to be a part of the transformation happening downtown by serving as a DT|LV Dynamo. These helpful, courteous Heroes of Downtown Las Vegas will be the ultimate ambassadors to visitors and tourists alike offering information, guidance and muscle to the downtown scene.

“Everyone can have Downtown Ambassadors, but our ambassadors are truly our heroes and that’s why we created a unique, fun-filled and creative way to recognize their hard work and dedication,” said Cass Palmer, United Way of Southern Nevada President and CEO.

In partnership with the City of Las Vegas, DT|LV Dynamos will give directions, answer questions and provide recommendations and assistance – anything to help make a person’s visit to Downtown Las Vegas more enjoyable.

“In partnership with United Way of Southern Nevada, our vision is that the DT|LV Dynamos are the ultimate community ambassadors,” said City of Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman. “We are looking for people who want to join the Downtown movement and are passionate about the Downtown renaissance.”

DT|LV Dynamos who serve as volunteer ambassadors will receive training to earn their stripes and will learn all about downtown while getting to know the visitors and other Heroes who are leading the urban renaissance that is Downtown Las Vegas.

DT|LV Dynamos will also have the opportunity to participate in DT|LV Dynamo Days, transforming city blocks with “clean-ups” meant to last a lifetime. With one successful clean up completed Downtown across 13 city blocks and with over 200 volunteers, DT|LV Dynamo Days improve local business conditions, safety and morale and give children, families and tourists a wonderful place to escape and bond.

“United Way’s work in health, education and financial stability has been supporting the residents and the visitors of Downtown for years,” said Cass. “By catalyzing community efforts, we are supporting the creative thinkers and unique businesses while helping to continue the integral history of Downtown.”

Those who are interested in volunteering will have an opportunity to learn more about becoming a member of the volunteer ambassador program or can learn about how to pitch in for DT|LV Dynamo Days by attending an information session on July 30, 2013 at either 10am to 11am or 6pm to 7pm at Historic Fifth Street School, 401 S. Fourth St., Las Vegas, NV 89101.
