Fire In Vacant Downtown Building Under Investigation
Building Had Previous Fire In September

Las Vegas firefighters responded to the vacant Fremont Assisted Living Center building at 100 S. 14th St. at 1:34 Monday morning after a passerby saw smoke coming from a window on the third floor.

When firefighters arrived on scene, they had to force entry into the boarded up building and found a fire in a room on the third floor.  They had the fire out in a few minutes and confined the fire to the one room.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by Las Vegas Fire & Rescue Arson Investigators. Firefighters responded to the vacant, boarded up building on Sept. 9 for a fire in a room on the fifth floor. That fire was ruled arson.

The building is vacant and boarded up but is used by homeless people.

There were no injuries in connection with the incident.
