Las Vegas City Hall And Other Buildings To Be Recognized For Leadership In Energy And Environmental Design Gold Certification
Las Vegas Fire And Rescue Firefighters To Also Be Recognized

 

       The Nevada Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council will recognize the city for achieving Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) gold status for the City Hall building at the Wednesday, Oct. 16, City Council meeting that will begin at 9 a.m. in City Hall council chambers, located at 495 S. Main St.

       Along with City Hall, Fire Stations 106 and 107, as well as, The Mob Museum are also LEED-certified structures, and will be recognized at the meeting.

       The Las Vegas City Council will recognize six firefighters who were able to save a newborn baby’s life as part of another ceremonial item.

       On the morning of Aug. 2, units from Fire Station 8 responded to a call of a pregnant woman delivering a baby in her home. Las Vegas Fire and Rescue firefighters arrived to find a newborn baby that was not breathing and had no heartbeat. They immediately began resuscitation efforts while carrying the baby to a waiting rescue unit.

       The team continued to work to resuscitate the child and employed advanced life support techniques as they sped to Sunrise Hospital’s Pediatric Emergency Room. The baby was revived and is now healthy and happy with her family.

       In addition, Mayor Pro Tem Stavros S. Anthony will recognize Adopt-A-Shelter-Dog Month, and will highlight some of the canines available at the Lied Animal Shelter.

       Also, Councilman Ricki Y. Barlow will recognize the Cheyenne High School Boys Chorus.

       Finally, the City Council and the city of Las Vegas Senior Citizens Advisory Board will recognize the senior of the quarter.
