The city of Las Vegas’ Keep Las Vegas Beautiful team will partner with students, parents, teachers and residents to brighten Halle Hewetson Elementary School, located at 701 N. 20th St., on Saturday, April 19, beginning at 8:30 a.m. Volunteers will be painting murals at the school and also helping to start a school garden project.
Volunteers will be working with Markus Tracy, a community artist, to paint murals throughout the school and playground area. In addition, a teaching garden will be planted for the school.
Keep Las Vegas Beautiful, a chapter of Keep America Beautiful, is comprised of representatives from the city of Las Vegas, Republic Services of Southern Nevada, the Clark County School District, the University of Nevada Las Vegas Rebel Recycling Program, UNR Cooperative Extension, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the Southern Nevada Graffiti Coalition, United Way of Southern Nevada, Outdoor Las Vegas Foundation, the Bureau of Land Management, the Nevada Department of Environmental Protection and Green Our Planet.
