This is an event for people of all ages, from children in strollers, to seniors and friends of the four-legged variety. After the walk, make sure to stick around and enjoy a fun day in the park, complete with a Sports Fest at 9 a.m. The first 250 participants will receive a free T-shirt. Healthy refreshments will also be available will supplies last. For more information, residents can call (702) 229-4615.

The walk serves as the official kickoff for the Mayor’s Healthy Lifestyle Initiative, a program designed to increase the livability of our great city by becoming a healthy and active community. The mayor is encouraging everyone to learn about the importance of diet and exercise and to take advantage of the many recreational opportunities offered by the city. The initiative is led by a three-point plan – get smart, get up and get out.  For more information on the initiative, visit http://www.gethealthylasvegas.com/.
