Las Vegas Centennial License Plate

A special Las Vegas Centennial License Plate is available through the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles . The money from the sale of this specialized plate paid for public events in 2005 commemorating the 100th anniversary of the founding of Las Vegas. Since the centennial in 2005, funds from this specialized plate have gone into a fund to sponsor a number of historic preservation efforts throughout the city including, but not limited to:

·         Las Vegas Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement  Seismic Retrofit and Artifacts

·         Neon Signs on Sticks Project – Las Vegas Boulevard

·         LaConcha Motel – moved to the Neon Boneyard site

·         Clark County Centennial Activities

·         Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs

·         John S. Park Neighborhood  Oral History Project

The plate feature the famous "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas" sign designed by Betty Whitehead Willis in 1959, which still stands in the median island south of Tropicana Avenue on Las Vegas Boulevard, also known as “the Strip.”
