Description: This 2010 emergency preparedness program, hosted by Nancy Byrne, provides information on how to prepare for and respond to emergency situations. September is National Preparedness Month, an effort encouraging individuals to take simple steps to prepare for emergencies in their homes, communities and businesses.

On this special program, you will meet a gentleman who after losing four family members in a fire, knows first hand how important it is to make a plan to get out of your home in an emergency. We will follow up his story with life saving tips from Fire Chief Greg Gammon on how to plan your own route out of a burning home. In addition, viewers will get tips for emergency kit preparation, how to care for our elderly or disabled neighbors during an emergency and how to be sure our pets are cared for as well. Finally we will offer you the latest information on several outlets where you can turn for timely, accurate information should a disaster strike our community.
