Development Services Process

The city of Las Vegas is restructuring the development services process to more effectively meet the needs of our customers. The development services process includes the steps one must go through to obtain permits and other documents needed during the building and planning process. The city hired outside consultants, Kirchhoff & Associates, to conduct an analysis of the existing development services process. That analysis, along with the city's next steps in this ongoing process, can be found below.

• A stakeholder meeting was recently held to present the report to the study’s focus groups participants

Regular updates on our progress as we work towards improving the process and the service we provide to our customers. Please check back on this website for new information as it becomes available.

Action Steps in Progress
The Implementation Team has started on the following steps:

• Identification of which findings from the study are applicable to the citywide process.
• Identification of gaps in the findings; additional findings included in the final list
• Identification of which departments are best poised to lead the improvement process, based upon the final list of findings
• Prioritization of the final list of findings based upon
     1) Which findings can provide the biggest improvements in the shortest amount of time
     2) Which findings will create a “cascade” effect and improve other areas indicated by the findings
     3) Project times to complete the Final List of Findings by short- (0-3 months), medium- (4-8 months) and long-term (9 months or greater)  
• Immediate and short-term action item improvements begin
