Automobile Sales-Limited

This license category allows motor vehicle sales with the restriction that no more than two vehicles will be kept on the premises and that no retail sales will take place at this location.

1.      Confirm that the business location is within the Las Vegas city limits. Special zoning restrictions apply to used auto sales; for more information on zoning requirements, check with Current Planning Division at 731 South 4^th Street, or call (702) 229-6301 to speak with a Planning & Development staff member.

2.      Make application for a Nevada sales/use tax permit and state business license from the Nevada Department of Taxation located at 555 East Washington Avenue, Las Vegas, Nevada 89101.  Call (702) 486-2300 or visit their website at http://tax.state.nv.us/.

3.      30 days prior to commencing business, bring a completed license application and all applicable items listed above to the Business Services Division, 400 Stewart Avenue, 3^rd Floor (City Hall).

4.      Complete a wastewater profile for non-residential establishments.  This can be accomplished at the time the business license application is submitted.  Contact the City of Las Vegas Environmental Division at (702) 229-6594 for additional information.

5.      Fees due at time application is submitted are $55.00 ($25.00 license fee + $30.00 processing fee).  Make checks payable to CITY OF LAS VEGAS. (Fees are based on gross revenues and are due in advance semiannually.  A pick-up fee may be required if your gross revenue is more than $12,000 the first 6 months.)

6.      Apply for the appropriate license with the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles Enforcement Division located at 8250 West Flamingo Road, Las Vegas, Nevada, 89117.  Call (702) 486-8620 for additional information.

7.      Present your City of Las Vegas DMV certificate to the Department of Motor Vehicles Enforcement Division to obtain your state license.

8.      Upon receipt of state license from DMV, bring the original to the Business Services Division.

9.      Business license applications are sent to the Planning Department and Fire Department for comment and inspection.  Upon approval from these agencies and completion of all items listed above, the Business Services Division will issue your business license.
