City of Las Vegas Business License Instructions

Contractor

A contractor is any person who is licensed or required to be licensed as a contractor under NRS 624, whether or not the contractor maintains a business location within the corporate limits of the City.

1.      Confirm that the business location is within the Las Vegas city limits and is properly zoned for this activity.  Special zoning restrictions may apply; call the Current Planning Division at (702) 229-6301 for information on this.

2.      Obtain a Nevada state contractor’s License in accordance with NRS Chapter 624. Call (702) 486-1100 for additional information.  The Nevada State Contractors Board is located at 2310 Corporate Circle, Suite 200, Henderson, Las Vegas, Nevada 89074.

3.      Make application for a Nevada sales tax permit and state business license from the Nevada Department of Taxation located at 555 East Washington Avenue, Las Vegas, Nevada 89101.  Call (702) 486-2300 for additional information.

4.      30 days prior to commencing business, bring a completed license application and all applicable items listed above to the Business Services Division, 400 Stewart Avenue, 3^rd Floor (City Hall). 

5.      License fees due with the application will total $280.00 ($250.00 annual license fee + $30.00 processing fee).  Make checks payable to CITY OF LAS VEGAS.

6.      Business license applications are sent to the Planning Department and Fire Department for review and inspection.  Upon approval from these agencies and completion of all items listed above, the Business Services Division will issue your business license.
