Municipal Election Season Is Now Underway

Election season is once again upon us and several city seats are up for election. The seats of mayor, council members for wards one, three and five and Municipal Court judge, department 6, will see races.
Municipal elections are held in odd-numbered years and are open, nonpartisan races, meaning that a properly registered voter of the city of Las Vegas may vote for council candidates within his or her ward and the at-large seats regardless of party affiliation. Candidates’ political parties do not appear on the ballot.
The deadline for voter registration for the primary election is quickly approaching. The deadline for registration without appearing at the City Clerk’s office is Saturday, March 3. After March 3 and through Tuesday, March 13, registration may be completed or updated during the following dates and times in person at the City Clerk’s office, located at 400 Stewart Ave.
• Sunday, March 4, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. • Monday, March 5, through Thursday, March 8, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. • Friday, March 9, through Tuesday, March 13, from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The primary election is scheduled for Tuesday, April 3, with early voting planned for Saturday, March 17, through Friday, March 30. If you are unsure of who serves as your city council representative, use our online service.
