Neighborhood Associations Provide Opportunities For Residents To Improve Their Communities

While many are familiar with homeowners associations, many have not heard of a neighborhood association. A neighborhood association is a group made up of volunteers in a particular neighborhood who want to maintain or improve the quality of life in their area. Generally, neighborhood associations require no dues.

Neighborhood associations can benefit residents in a number of ways. Since it is formed with city assistance, it is a great way to mobilize residents to improve communities. Residents can also tap city resources such as grant funding, access to planning professionals and free education classes for their community.

Just recently, the Gateway District Association benefited from city resources when youth from the Las Vegas Stupack Center painted a mural in an alley. The goal of this community pride effort was to reduce graffiti in the area. The alley art is one of several community enhancement projects planned for the Gateway area. Many neighborhood associations also participate in clean-ups organized by the city.

Dozens of neighborhood associations already exist throughout the city. To find out if there a neighborhood association for your community, use our interactive map service or view a complete list of existing neighborhood associations

Communities interested in organizing a neighborhood association should contact the city of Las Vegas Neighborhood Services Department at (702) 229-2330.
