Application Deadline Extended For Helldorado Parade

There’s still time to get your application in for the 2007 Helldorado Parade. The application deadline was recently extended to Monday, April 16, for the parade, which will take place at 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 19, 2007.
In 2005, after seven years of absence, the time-honored Helldorado Days tradition was resurrected in celebration of the city’s Centennial. Based on its success, organizers vowed to keep up the tradition. What began as a tool in 1935 to bring tourists to town following the completion of construction on Hoover Dam evolved into a celebrated event that united locals with community spirit and raised money for local charities. In its heyday, Helldorado was centered on Western-themed events such as the Kangaroo Court, Old Timers Parade, rodeo, Whiskerino Contest, Beauty Parade and Children's Parade. This year, the Las Vegas Elks Lodge 1468, will sponsor a carnival, kiddie land and Western village that will take place from Thursday, May 17, to Sunday, May 20, at Cashman Center. More information will be available during the coming weeks.
Those interested in entering a float or participating in the parade can download a registration form . For more information on the parade please call (702) 229-6501.
