Registration Begins Soon For Spring And Summer Recreational Opportunities

It’s never too early to start making plans for the summer and the city’s Department of Leisure Services has some fun options you may want to consider. Beginning on Monday, April 2, registration will begin for spring and summer activities including summer camps, aquatic classes and sports leagues. There are plenty of opportunities for children to have fun, stay active and be healthy during the upcoming summer.

Summer camps for children ages 4 to 15 are offered throughout the summer at a number of community centers across the city. Children can enjoy their summer vacation participating in age-appropriate activities in an organized camp setting under the guidance of professional staff. Games, sports, arts and crafts, special events and field trips will keep them busy all day long.

Many centers also offer specialty camps. These specialty camps last for one week and include focused activities such as Tae Kwon Do, hip hop dance, cheerleading, baking, gymnastics and much more.

Registration for aquatics classes will also begin on Monday, April 2. The city’s six pools open for business in May and offer open swim time, swimming lessons and lifeguard instruction. In addition, a number of swim meets and competitions are planned at the various facilities and numerous special events such as Fourth of July celebrations will take place throughout the summer.

A number of sports leagues are also forming for the summer. Sports include basketball, flag football, soccer and T-ball. In addition, two tournaments are planned for June.

For further information on dates, times, fees and registration, please consult the Spring / Summer 2007 Recreational Guide.
