City Approves Master Plan For Floyd Lamb Park

The Las Vegas City Council recently adopted the final draft of the Master Plan for Floyd Lamb Park , a historic area in the city’s northwest, that is being transferred to the city of Las Vegas from the state of Nevada this summer. The master plan provides a blueprint for how the park will be developed once the city takes control of it.

The master plan evolved through a rigorous and unique planning process. Extensive public comment was gathered through three public meetings, focus groups, an online survey and forums including a Citizens Advisory Committee and a Technical Committee. Several alternatives were presented to citizens. In the end, the consensus from those providing comments was to keep the rural nature of the park, but provide some enhancements such as improvements to historic areas, a new park entrance, a visitor’s center, new lakes and facilities, environmental enhancement areas and much more.

Implementation of the plan will take several years and occur in three phases. Funding for Floyd Lamb Park will come from a variety of sources. While the plan is intended to be a guiding document for the development of the park, each phase and its respective funding would have to be approved by the City Council.
