Floyd Lamb Park At Tule Springs To Become City Park

On July 2, city and state dignitaries will mark the passage of Floyd Lamb Park from the state of Nevada to the city of Las Vegas with a ceremonial passing of the deed. Comprised of 680 acres in the far northwest, the city recently renamed the park “Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs.”

The park, located at 9200 Tule Springs Road, offers fishing, picnic areas, historic buildings, horseback riding, carriage rides and plenty of open space. There are natural desert areas, lakes and desert wildlife including ducks and peacocks.

The park will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. from Memorial Day to Labor Day and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Labor Day to Memorial Day. There is a $6 per vehicle daily use fee or a daily fee of $1 for those entering on foot, bike or horseback. An annual park pass will be available at a future date.

The Las Vegas City Council recently adopted the final draft of the master plan for Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs. The master plan provides a blueprint for how the park will be developed once the city takes over. The state offered the park to the city when funding became an issue.

Implementation of the plan will take several years and occur in three phases. Funding for Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs will come from a variety of sources. While the plan is intended to be a guiding document for the development of the park, each phase and its respective funding would have to be approved by the City Council.

An official grand opening event is planned for later this year.
