Southern Nevada’s Largest Community Center Set To Open

Northwest residents will soon have something to brag about – the largest community center in southern Nevada, and possibly the entire state, right in their backyard. Councilman Steven D. Ross and other city officials will officially open the 98,000 square-foot Centennial Hills Community Center on Saturday, July 28. Festivities are planned from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The center is located on 18 acres in Centennial Hills Park. The new center will provide a variety of recreational activities. Features include four swimming pools, two of which are indoor pools. One of the indoor pools serves as a water aerobics/teaching pool. Other amenities include a senior center, two gymnasiums plus space for a variety of multi-generational activities. A public arts component is also being incorporated into the facility.

The center also includes an Active Adult, or Senior, wing. It has its own entrance and parking area, restrooms, a kitchen, a computer lab, library, activity rooms, an outdoor patio suitable for barbecuing and much more.

The Centennial Hills Community Center is located at 6601 N. Buffalo Drive, near Deer Springs Way. Work started on the center in March 2006. The project also included realignment of Deer Springs Way to improve access to the 215 Beltway.
