Celebrate National Neighborhood Day

The city of Las Vegas is calling on residents to mark National Neighborhood Day. This is a nationwide effort that received the commitment of the U.S. Conference of Mayors to build and sustain neighborhood relationships to create stronger, more caring and effective communities. Block parties, cleanups, barbecues and community projects are some of the ways residents can celebrate where they live and get to know their neighbors. Getting together with neighbors strengthens communities through improved communication, safety and quality of life.

The city is partnering with residents throughout the community on a number of different events to bring neighborhoods closer together including:

Ward 1
Neighborhood Beautification Project/Graffiti Removal
Saturday, Sept. 22, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Artesian Heights neighborhood at the intersection of Hinson Street and Del Rey Avenue

Ward 2
Project: Volunteer
The event aims to connect individuals with available volunteer opportunities
Saturday, Sept. 15, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Ansan Park, located at 7801 Ducharme St.

Ward 3
Major League Baseball Pepsi Pitch Hit and Run Skills Competition in conjunction with Nevada Youth Alliance
Tuesday, Sept. 18, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.
Ronnow Elementary School located at 1100 Lena St.

Ward 5
“It Takes a Village” Anti-Violence Celebration
Friday, Sept. 14, from 6 to 9 p.m.
Doolittle Community Center at 1950 N. J St., near the corner of Lake Mead Boulevard
