Tennis Channel Open Returns To Darling Tennis Center For Third Year

Some of the greatest tennis players in the world will be featured at the 2008 Tennis Channel Open at the city of Las Vegas’ Amanda and Stacy Darling Memorial Tennis Center. The tournament is set for March 3–9, 2008, and is scheduled to feature 2007 Tennis Channel Open singles champion Lleyton Hewitt and returning 2007 doubles champions Bob and Mike Bryan.

During the week of March 3 other scheduled tournament activities at the Darling Tennis Center including a U.S. Tennis Association Women’s Pro Circuit Tournament, Paddle Tennis Championships, the Anthem Country Club Junior Tournament and UNLV collegiate matches. Other events include Cox Healthy Kids and Family Day, Fabulous Las Vegas Night with Mayor Oscar B. Goodman, High School Tennis Skills Challenge and a Yellow and White Out to benefit the American Cancer Society and the Lance Armstrong Foundation.

The Darling Tennis Center is the largest public tennis facility in the state of Nevada, and consists of 23 tennis courts. The main court has stadium seating for approximately 2,800 spectators and will be the venue for the featured and championship matches during the Tennis Channel Open. The complex also includes a pro shop, locker rooms and office space.

The tennis center is part of the Charlie Kellogg and Joe Zaher Sports Complex, located on Washington Avenue between Buffalo and Durango drives in Ward 4. The complex also features 11 lighted soccer fields, three dog runs, two playgrounds, covered picnic areas and a 2.44 mile walking and jogging trail.
