Work To Soon Begin On Martin L. King Boulevard Improvement Project

Work will soon begin on Martin L. King Boulevard to make way for improvements and several public meetings are planned for residents to learn more.
The improvement project will take place along 2.5 miles of Martin L. King Boulevard from near Discovery Drive to Carey Avenue. Central to this project is the widening or updating of six travel lanes – three northbound and three southbound. Additional improvements will include sidewalk ramps, street lighting, storm drainage facilities, landscaped median islands, utility relocation, the upgrade of existing traffic signals, signage, delineation and reconstruction of adjacent property improvements as necessary. New traffic signals will be installed at Martin L. King and Discovery Drive and other existing signals will be updated.
Local residents can learn more about the project at one of three upcoming workshops:
Monday, Feb. 25, 6 p.m. Advanced Technologies Academy , 2501 Vegas Drive
Tuesday, Feb. 26, 6 p.m. Doolittle Community Center, 19 N. J St.
Thursday, Feb. 28, 6 p.m. First Christian Academy, 101 S. Rancho Drive
The $45 million project will be funded by the city of Las Vegas and the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada and should be complete by the end of 2009.
