Applications Still Being Accepted For 2008 Helldorado Parade

There’s still time to submit your application for the 2008 Helldorado Parade. The parade will take place at 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2008.

There is no entry fee for the parade and car clubs, equestrian clubs, marching bands and walking groups are encouraged to submit an application. This year, entries will be judged in a number of categories including floats, walking groups and marching bands, and will be evaluated on their theme, creativity and their relation to Helldorado Days and the city’s 103rd birthday. The parade route will take entries northbound on Fourth Street from Hoover Avenue to Ogden Avenue.

In its heyday, Helldorado was centered on Western-themed events such as the Kangaroo Court, Old Timers Parade, Rodeo, Whiskerino Contest, Beauty Parade and Children's Parade. Events planned for this year include the parade and new fireworks show, an art show and silent auction, the Shootout Charity Golf Tournament and the Texas Hold’em Poker Tournament.  Information on these upcoming events can be found on the official Helldorado Days Web site at  .

Those interested in entering a float or participating in the parade can download a registration form . Forms must be received by the city no later than Monday, April 27. For more information on the parade please contact Esther Boyter at (702) 229-6501.
