Registration Underway For Summer Camp And Aquatic Programs

It’s never too early to start making plans for the summer and the city’s Department of Leisure Services has some fun options you may want to consider.

Registration is now underway for summer day camps for youth ages 4 to 15. Registration also begins for a variety of aquatic programs. There are plenty of opportunities for children to have fun, stay active and be healthy during the upcoming summer.

Summer camps for children are offered beginning Monday, June 9, throughout the summer at a number of community centers across the city. Children can enjoy their summer vacation participating in age-appropriate activities in an organized camp setting under the guidance of professional staff. Games, sports, arts and crafts, special events and field trips will keep them busy all day long.

Registration for aquatics classes began on Monday, March 10. The city’s six pools offer open swim time, swimming lessons and lifeguard instruction. In addition, a number of swim meets and competitions are planned at the various facilities and numerous special events such as Fourth of July celebrations will take place throughout the summer. Three of the outdoor pools - Doolittle Pool, Carlos L. Martinez and Darrio J. Hall Family Pool at Gary Reese Freedom Park and Pavilion Center Pool - open on Memorial Day weekend, while Baker and Garside pools open on June 9. The indoor Municipal Pool is open year-round.
