Celebrate The Earth This April

Earth Day Is April 22

Founded in 1970 by Sen. Gaylord Nelson, Earth Day is a yearly event that provides an opportunity for communities to come together and celebrate the earth’s natural resources. Many events are planned throughout the community that will provide helpful hints, fun activities and education.

Free Green Fair
Tuesday, April 15, 10 a.m.
East Las Vegas Community Senior Center, 250 N. Eastern Ave., (702) 229-1515.
For those 50 and older. Nevada Power, LV Valley Water District, Southwest Gas and other organizations will help educate on how to save resources, recycle and preserve the environment.

Summerlin Earthfaire
Saturday, April 19, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Summerlin Centre Community Park (On Town Center Dr. between Charleston Blvd. and Sahara Ave.)
Visit the city of Las Vegas at this fun-filled event.

Join Councilwoman Lois Tarkanian for information on “going green” and a tree planting ceremony. This is the 16th year that the city of Las Vegas will be named a Tree City USA.

Free Earth Day Celebration

For ages 2 to 12. Enjoy refreshments, games, activities and prizes for children as we learn to take care of the planet.

Free Earth Day Picnic & Planting
Tuesday, April 22, 8:30 a.m. Advance reservation required. Space is limited.

For those 50 and older. Celebrate Earth Day planting trees and bushes in a local park, and enjoy a picnic!

Sunday, April 26.
Special activities are planned throughout the day.

Green Buildings Tour
Monday, April 28, 10 a.m. Advance registration required.
Fee: $2 transportation fee, plus cost of lunch.
