Earth Day Is April 22

Founded in 1970 by Sen. Gaylord Nelson, Earth Day is a yearly event that provides an opportunity for communities to come together and celebrate the earth’s natural resources. Many events are planned throughout the community that will provide helpful hints, fun activities and education.
Free Green Fair Tuesday, April 15, 10 a.m. East Las Vegas Community Senior Center, 250 N. Eastern Ave., (702) 229-1515. For those 50 and older. Nevada Power, LV Valley Water District, Southwest Gas and other organizations will help educate on how to save resources, recycle and preserve the environment.

Earth Day Fair Saturday, April 19, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mirabelli Park, 6200 Hargove Ave. Join Councilwoman Lois Tarkanian for information on “going green” and a tree planting ceremony. This is the 16th year that the city of Las Vegas will be named a Tree City USA.
