Local seniors will have something to cheer about as the Doolittle Senior Center plans its grand re-opening celebration later this month. The center, which has been one of the busiest senior centers in the city, has been closed for nearly a year to make room for some much-needed renovations.

The improvement project expanded the facility by approximately 4,700 square feet. The renovated center will feature rooms for fitness and games, arts and crafts, health services, dance and exercise and an Arts Commission art presence. There is also a new walking trail. During construction, some senior programs such as sewing, bingo, card games and free blood pressure checks, were relocated to the Doolittle Community Center next door.

Funding for this project was made possible through a Community Development Block Grant.
