Two Improvement Projects To Begin At Popular Park

One of the city’s most popular parks, Freedom Park, recently closed to make way for a number of improvements. The park, located at North Mojave Road and Washington Avenue, has been serving the community since 1972.
Mayor Pro Tem Gary Reese and other city officials will kick-off the two improvement projects at an upcoming ceremony. The work is expected to take approximately 14 months.
The first project, Big League Dreams, will include the construction of six lighted replica ball fields, a batting cage, an indoor sports pavilion and events area, two stadium club concessions and two tot lot play areas.
The other project will include the renovation of two existing little league ball fields and the construction of two new lighted soccer fields, basketball courts and a building for concessions and restrooms. Other new amenities will include a perimeter fence, exercise area, walking and jogging path, skate park, events platform, adaptive recreation area, shade structures, security lighting and parking.
Improvement projects also continue at two other local parks – Jaycee Park and Lorenzi Park.
There are numerous other parks throughout the city that are still available for activities. The online park finder can help you find other options in the city using search criteria such as location or desired features.
