December To Remember

If you are looking for a fun way to enjoy the holidays and learn a few new things about various cultures around the world, then the upcoming December to Remember festival is just the right thing.
The festival, which runs from Friday, Nov. 28, to Sunday, Jan. 4, will feature memorable exhibits, performances, special programs and hands-on children’s activities. The events will take place at several cultural facilities known as the ‘cultural corridor’ including the Old Mormon Fort , Lied Discovery Children’s Museum , Natural History Museum , Neon Museum , Reed Whipple Cultural Center, Las Vegas Library , Cashman Center and the Morelli House.
Highlights will offer the community many memorable activities to enjoy including:
- The presentation of more than 25 events that showcase family and cultural traditions and universal themes of renewal, change and celebration around the world. Local Las Vegas community and ethnic groups will offer enriching demonstrations that share unique cultural traditions.
- A holiday poster contest in local schools, third through fifth grades. Students are invited to create artworks based on celebrations and traditions that are unique to their own family and cultural heritage. Winning entries will be featured in the festival’s official poster and students and their families will be honored at a special reception at the Natural History Museum on November 20, at 5:30 p.m., to kick off the month-long event.
