City officials recently celebrated the opening of a new fire station. Fire station 48 is located in the far northwest portion of the valley at 9133 Elkhorn Road between Fort Apache Road and Durango Drive.

The new station features a fire engine and rescue / ambulance unit and houses a crew of six firefighters per shift. The station is 10,738 square feet and includes three bays.

The new station replaces a temporary station that was located on Sky Pointe Drive so that protection could be provided to the far northwest part of the city.
