Project:Volunteer Brings Students And Nonprofit Agencies Together

Las Vegas students who are interested in volunteering their time and nonprofit organizations looking for assistance are invited to the third annual Project: Volunteer event from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, at the Veterans Memorial Leisure Services Center located at 101 North Pavilion Center Drive. The event will provide a venue where nonprofit organizations can provide individuals with information on volunteer opportunities. The event is free for both organizations and individuals seeking information.
The event is being sponsored by the city of Las Vegas and Ward 2 Councilman Steve Wolfson. Project: Volunteer is designed to bring together organizations that need the invaluable services of volunteers and the people who want to make a difference in their community through volunteerism. This year the event is specifically geared toward all Las Vegas students, grades k-12 and college. The goal is to give students throughout the valley an opportunity to be exposed to the many worthwhile causes that need their time and energy.
Please visit www.lasvegasnevada.gov/projectvolunteer or call 229-4645 for more information. Nonprofit organizations interested in participating in Project:Volunteer may obtain an interest form on the Web site to confirm their attendance. Advance registration for students is not required. However, students have an opportunity to be entered into a drawing to win a Laptop, if they choose to register in advance on the Web site. They must attend the event to win.
