Making Home Affordable Program

Your home is one of your most important assets. If you are having difficulty making your mortgage payments because you have less income or your monthly payments have increased, take action now to avoid losing your home through foreclosure. The recently-announced Making Home Affordable program can help homeowners in distress. Please join Community Services of Nevada (CSN), HUD, Fannie Mae, and the City of Las Vegas for a free session that will explain the Making Home Affordable program, eligibility requirements and help you discuss options with your mortgage company. Call 702-229-HOME (4663) to register for one of the events.
Saturday, June 20 at 11 a.m. (Spanish only) East Las Vegas Community Senior Center 250 N Eastern Avenue
Saturday, June 27 at 9 a.m. (English only) Texas Station Hotel and Casino 2101 Texas Star Lane
At the event, you will receive information about the various options available to you, including:
• Forbearance Forbearance provides a temporary reduction or suspension of payments on a mortgage loan, followed by an arrangement to cure the delinquency by repaying the payments not made during the forbearance period.
• Repayment A repayment plan will allow you to make a full payment, plus an additional amount to bring your loan current.
• Modification If you qualify, your servicer may be able to modify the terms of your mortgage, including converting an adjustable-rate loan to a fixed-rate loan or extending the term of the mortgage so that it lowers your monthly payment.
In addition, you will learn how to spot – and avoid – scam artists and fraudulent practices that prey on homeowners who are having difficulties.
These events are consumer education seminars with a group of speakers from Fannie Mae, HUD and local counseling agencies to discuss the Making Home Affordable program, options available if you are behind on your mortgage, and how to work with your servicer.
Please plan to arrive before the start time to attend the full session. To ensure your space is reserved, please register for the event. If you can’t attend or you would like additional information about Making Home Affordable now, please visit this Web site: http://www.makinghomeaffordable.gov/.
