Safe Summer Nights
These are community festivals planned to help celebrate summer and give residents the opportunity to get to know each other.  Entertainment includes face painters, balloon artists, DJ and games for the youth. Hotdogs, chips and water will be served. There will also be some vendors attending with information about community resources. These are hosted by Nevada Youth Alliance and the Las Vegas Centennial Optimist Club in partnership with the schools listed below. Wal-Mart is providing the food for all three Safe Summer Night events.

The Arts Conservatory Performance (all ages)

Enjoy this community showcase of students’ achievements in dance, music and visual arts. Performances will include songs, poetry and dance routines by the talented children of The Arts Conservatory summer camp.

Saturday Contra Dancing (all ages)
Cosponsored by the Southern Nevada Old Time Contra Dancers

Dance to the live music of an acoustic band playing joyful fiddle tunes, driving reels, and a waltz or two. These lively community dances recapture aspects of New England and frontier barn dances, with more modern twists. All dances are taught and called, newcomers and families are welcomed. No need to bring a partner. Wear comfortable flat-soled shoes and casual clothing.
Tickets: $7 adults; $5 members, students & military; $3 for children under 16 and non-dancing adults.

Internationally acclaimed photographer John Broussard has created an exhibit showcasing 40 years in photojournalism and creative photography. The exhibit is a collection of original photographs and poems covering four decades, detailing his photographic journey.  Having traveled throughout the U.S.A., Asia, Africa, and Europe, Broussard welcomes the opportunity to share carefully chosen, thought-provoking images.
