Aug. 12, 2010

I hope you and your family are enjoying our beautiful summer weather. I am writing to inform you of opportunities in our community that start this weekend.

You and your neighbors are invited to participate in Operation Medicine Cabinet on Saturday, Aug. 14, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Northwest Area Command, located at 9850 W. Cheyenne Ave. This will be an opportunity to drop off expired and unused prescription and over-the-counter drugs and medicines for safe and secure disposal. You can help protect our community from prescription and over-the-counter drug abuse and keep these medicines out of our water supply at the same time. No questions will be asked, and those who drop off drugs will remain anonymous.

This event is sponsored by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Channel 8 News Now, Clark County Reclamation District Medicine Disposal Program, Narcotics Education Foundation of Nevada, University of Southern Nevada Drug Abuse Awareness Team, Clark County Coroner's Office and the Prescription Drug Safe program. For more information, see the flier, go online or check out the Facebook page.
